Adams Elementary School, Lincoln, NE
Our school is two years old. Our school got its name from Lt. Col. Paul Adams. He was a Tuskegee Airman and he lives in Lincoln, NE. Sometimes he comes to visit our school. Our school mascot is the Aviators. We voted for our mascot last year, when our school opened. We have 1 pre-school, 5 kindergarten classrooms, 5 first grade rooms, 4 second grade rooms, and 3 rooms of third, fourth, and fifth grades. Our school is growing every year. This year we have about 515 students.
Some special events at our school are:
-Field Day – we get to move from one game to another for ½ of the school day in the spring.
-Book Fair – we have a tons of books we can buy. The book fair comes to our school for 1 week once or twice a year.
-Fun Night – Our PTO has this for us. We have blow up bounce houses, games, clowns, prizes, and lots of fun.
-Car show – our 5th grade families had a car show in the school parking lot to raise money for a “graduation” trip.
Here are some of the subjects we are studying in third grade:
Math – multiplication, money, division, probability, fractions, and time
Unit Studies – experiments, energy, communities, and health & germs
Specials Classes – computer, music, library, P.E., art
Some animals you might see in the wild in Nebraska are: snakes, owls, bald eagles, turtles, hawks, rabbits, deer, rabbits, coyotes, wild turkeys, chipmunks, and squirrels. Some animals that people have for pets are: cats, dogs, horses, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, and birds. Some animals that are raised by Nebraska farmers are: cows, pigs, goats, chickens, and turkeys.
The Nebraska football team is the Cornhuskers. Number 5 is our quarterback, Zack Lee, number 10 is our running back, Roy Helu, number 90 is our punter, Alex Henry, and number 93 is a line-man, Ndomican Suh. and 24 is a receiver, Niles Paul. Go Big Red!
The weather in Nebraska has a lot of variety. In the winter it is freezing with lots of snow and lots of wind. In the spring, it is breezy. There can be lots of rain. It is often cold in the morning and warm in the afternoons. In the summer, it is sunny and hot. The temperatures are in the 90’s and 100’s. Right now, in the fall, it is cool and windy. It has been an unusually cool fall. Our first snow came on Oct. 10th this year. That is really early!!
The biggest city that is close to Lincoln is Omaha. It takes about one hour to drive from Lincoln to Omaha. Lincoln is the capital of Nebraska.
